A final year Kenyatta University student accused of stabbing his alleged lover from Pwani University will be detained at Kilifi police station for eight days as detectives conclude investigations.

Kilifi Senior Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku allowed an application by the prosecution seeking to detain the suspect for more days to carry out investigations, which extend to Bomet County, where both hail from.

Mr Nicholas Koech is alleged to have stabbed Ms Naomi Chepkemoi, a third-year student at Pwani University, in her house at Mkwajuni village on the outskirts of Kilifi town.

Investigating officer Evans Kiboi told the court that they needed more time to take the suspect to a psychiatrist and record statements from the victim, who is admitted at Kilifi County Referral Hospital.
